Maybe you should look at the actual trades made

Maybe you should look at the actual trades made instead of the total. I make approx. 20 offers a year per team, these were the trades that I made based on your dates. You look at the trades. I made them with the intent of winning my division, which I did. I think I helped out the unmanaged teams more than I helped my team in the long run. I got lucky on one trade. All trades were made before the season started, except for the very last trade(with Riske).

So I gave up

Hee Seop Choi
Michael Restovich
Wily Pena
Carlos Lee
John Patterson
Kurt Ainsworth
Karim Garcia
Chris Carpenter
#1 - #3 rookies & #1 - #3 FA picks

I received
Greg Myers
John Vander Wal
Joe Crede
Pat Hentgen
Ben Sheets
David Dellucci
Edgar Martinez
David Riske

Sheets was the only guy I got that is really worth anything today, and remember I picked him up last Feb., before he had his career year. Choi, Pena, Lee, Carpenter, plus the #1's more than balance that.

To me it seems like unmanaged trades are working.

The actual trades listed below

Orange County Angels get Greg Myers for a #2 Free Agent pick & # 3 Rookie pick
(Trade advantage: Me, IMHP, but barely)

Orange County Angels get John Vander Wal for Rick Ankiel & #3 Free Agent
(Trade advantage: Managerless team)

Orange County Angels get Joe Crede & Pat Hentgen for Hee Seop Choi, Michael Restovich, Wily Pena, #1 Free Agent pick
(Trade advantage: Managerless team by a landslide)

Orange County Angels get Ben Sheets & David Dellucci for Carlos Lee, John Patterson, Kurt Ainsworth
(Trade advantage: Even at the time(this was in Feb., before Sheets pitched like a Cy Young)

Orange County Angels get Edgar Martinez for Karim Garcia & Chris Carpenter
(Trade advantage: Managerless team)

Orange County Angels get David Riske for #2 Free Agent pick #3 Rookie
(Trade advantage: Even at the time, but Riske ended the season with 25 IP of 1.5ERA)
