It seems to me that PB does NOT adjust players from Colorado.

Instead, when games are played using COORS as the home field, all players in THAT GAME get adjusted.

My experience is that Colorado pitchers do NOT get an upgrade and hitters to NOT get a downgrade.

I strongly suspect that the "park effects" are only applied to specific games based on the home park, but are NOT used to adjust player stats.

The manual states "The indexes used will represent the statistics gathered by Stats, Inc. during the last three year's games played at that park."

Now if that is what is actually used, it would be impossible to make adjustments on an individual player basis.

The manual also states:

Only a very few PURE BASEBALL ratings are actually used in the game simulation. The ratings are included in the game to help managers quickly and easily identify a player's strengths and weaknesses. The actual statistics are what drives the game in most cases. Example: A pitcher may have a 7.3 pitching rating, but his actual statistics versus the type of batter (RH or LH hitter) he is facing, the batter's statistics, the park effects, and other pertinent factors determine the outcomes.

Exceptions: range rating, arm rating, and running speed rating are used directly in determining the outcome of plays.

I suspect the "park effects" mean the park effects of the PB game being played, NOT the park effects of the MLB park where the pitcher gained his stats.

I think the idea that individual players are adjusted based on their home park is a major common misconception. [or maybe I'm the one who is misconcepting...we all have our pet theories]

Another "popular misconeption" is also addressed by the above statement from the manual. The game does NOT use PB ratings except for a few items - it uses the actual stats. That is why a SS with a defensive PB grade of 0.1 may be a very good SS. The PB grade is meaningless and not used in the game.

Now I've given up my major "secrets" and I'll probably never win another championship. Of course, maybe I'm wrong about all this...

If you think I'm wrong though, perhaps you will trade me A-Rod and let me play him at SS with his PB 1 defensive rating at SS. Check out his fielding stats for Mike Bravard in 2000 RT2 [51 dp's vs 28 for Counsell in about the same # of innings - Counsell was a DP 7 PB rating].

The same applies to pitcher ratings. Look not at the PB grades, but how many HR, W, K and their OPS.
