Spahn & Sain and ... Spahn & Sain again ?
I just played a series in which the other team pitched the same pitchers in games 1-2 and in 4-5. Terry mulholland started the fifth game, two days after facing 31 batters, with a BFA of 5. He went 7 innings, giving up 4 hits,1 BB and 1 run to a pretty good offensive team. How is this possible ? One, there were other starters available and rested. The games were played early Tuesday and I can't tell if the manager played them or the computer. If it was the other manager, then there should be a rule that you need a 30 BFA to start a game (I thought there already was one). If it was the PB computer, this needs to be fixed.
Second, Mulholland should've been bombed in his second start. That shouldn't be hard to see to, that a pitcher who is exhausted coming into a game loses 80-90% of his effectiveness. Instead it was probably the best game he pitched all year. This is unrealistic, when we're striving to achieve optimal realism, and just encourages managers to look for other ways to "fool" the game.
