Trade methodology

Posted By Joey

I understand what your saying and your correct and maybe I did slightly overreact. If your trying to open up a negotiation you have to have a starting point that is at least might have something of interest to the other owner. Possibly if the FA pick were in the top 2 or three then maybe a counter could have been made in that instace. In this case Lopez is not worth that much. The thing is in most leagues your talking a high 2 in this league it's a low 1 which makes Lopez far more valuable. My point is Jordan on any team is a non starter and therefor what the offer was and a RP or a marginal player for a number 3 starter on most teams, who's young and may get better. If your trying to get a discusiion started isn't it better to send the person an email and get a feeling for what he or she might look for in a particular trade, or if you don't want to contact the person directly, put something anything that might make the other owner think about what might be a good counter rather than have the ownner just reject the trade outright.
