Why is this a surprise?
As said below in many posts...
The game does not use the PB ratings, it uses actual stats.
If you ignore the PB ratings and look at A-Rod's stats at SS:
A-Rod played only 2 innnings at SS but in those 2 innings had a Putout, an assist, and a DP with zero errors.
How many SS turn a DP every 2 innings or average 4.5 PO and 4.5 assists per game.
A-Rod is a superstar at SS - better than when he had a PB grade of 9.
If you had looked at last year's RT stats (while they were still posted) for teams who played A-Rod at SS last year (this year's TRAD stats), you'd see that he had super defensive stats for one of Mike Bravard's RT teams in 2000RT2 (51 DP's vs 28 for Counsell in similar innings - Counsel was PB rating DP=7).

Just for info, I have AROD on two RT teams and have played him at ss since he qualified. Following are his stats at ss so far on my teams.

Just as an aside:
Mike Bravard posted that:
PB range is calculated by using ZONE=50% and chances per inning modified by GB/FB rating of pitching staff and strike out ratio of pitching staff=50%
Whether this is the PB rating or the stat used in the game wasn't clear.
