Lefty/Righty fits but why infield hits?
The reliever used as starter penalty is a joke in my opinion - the relievers I've faced did great. The only penalty seems to be you use up your relief innings. Still - as a rule I try not to do that just to keep the game realistic.
The no stats vs lefties makes sense as ALL the 12 strikeouts came vs the 4 righty hitters in the lineup and only 1 infield hit came from a righty batter. It makes you wonder what he would have done vs a lineup of all RH batters!!!
Now - why all infield hits by the lefthanders? I wonder if the 0.0 GB/FB ratio could be involved?
Any thoughts on that?
Another question for discussion. I've faced lineups with alternating lefty/righty hitters and seen that done in MLB. The concept seems to be its hard to bring in relievers to face just lefty or just righty. The Rodney game though would show that if they had put all their lefty batters together, they would have scored runs but by alternatng them by the time they had 3 hits they also had 3 righty batters strike out and so Rodney did pretty well in controlling runs even giving up 17 hits. Is the alternating lefty/righty hitter strategy a poor idea?
