What about
What were're talking about is the notion that you can somehow "fool the game". This is rediculous because the game treats everyone equally. Everyone suffers the same penalties and receives the same benefits for the decisions they make.
The thread started with someone questioning why a manager would use a RP as a starter or start the same pitchers in games 1&2 and 4&5. The suggestion was that we should all make things easier on the PB staff by not doing anything unorthodox. This is also absurd in my opinion.
In the real world managers do not have the pre determined knowledge of how long or how well thier players will perform in specific roles. As a PB manager you have that knowledge to a great degree, even in RT leagues.
PB managers don't have to rely on thier judgement or motivational skills to get the most out of thier players. They simply have to allocate the resources available at the most opportune times. Somethimes an important series produces some inventive ways to spend resources.
This is a game of fantasy and simulation and strategy. It's not close to the real thing and probably never will be. The use of real players who's limitations, performance and stats are common knowledge and readily available before game time make any kind of "real" simulation impossible.
And what's with the assumption that everyone who owns a team here is only concerned with all out realism? This is s simulation, it's not live... it's memorex and I understand that. I can enjoy the game just as well without being concerned about how "real" it is.
