OK..........
You're all right. Do whatever you want.
I guess I went off because I remember the
old CSN game APBA where the home manager
would play BOTH teams. You could hold up
the opposing teams runners from scoring
or send a slow runner around and easily
throw him out. You could send one of YOUR
own slow runners around and NOT have your
opponent throw home. You could take a
starting pitcher out whenever YOU wanted
to and bring whatever reliever YOU wanted
to in a game. I just don't want that kind
of stuff to happen again. There was no rule
against it but it was wrong, wasn't it?
Or was it just an "ingenious" manager
doing what he had to so he could win?
This isn't a question of reality versus
fantasy but one of sportsmanship. I mean,
there are laws against stealing money from
somebody but what if there weren't? Does
that make it OK? Where do we draw the line
on what GM's can do with the game? There
are people out there playing outfielders
in the infield because they know defense
doesn't mean much in the sim! uh oh, I
just gave out a secret. Now we'll see
Rickey Henderson playing 2nd base so that
they can stick a big bat in the outfield.
How about we use Gregg Maddux as an ace
reliever? They can do whatever they want.
I just think it ruins everything I love
about the PB game. When I talk about
reality versus fantasy I don't mean
statistically. I mean using PLAYERS
realistically. I don't mind little
things like a reliever starting but it
could get out of hand. I don't want to
see that happen just because you can get
away with it.
