away instructions

I have also ran into this tactic before. Since I always have my opponent's roster printed out before a series (I use the Team roster printout that has the batters LOPS and ROPS as the last two columns), I check his pitcher availability too. I know before I submit my starter in game 1, which of his pitchers will be ready for each game. Often, there is only 1 pitcher available for each game, and I can assume the starter for each game in question. At times, there may be 2-3 guys ready for a particular game. So, if I see a starter selected for the away lineup that I know is not ready, I disregard him, and set my lineup vs. the actual ready starters.
If he has both a RHP and a LHP available, then I have to guess which the robot will call on. It's usually the better rated pitcher.
I think the tactic stinks, and I personally never would do it.
