Back To Board

My Thoughts

Posted By Dave N

A reliever who counters the usual platoon pattern is more valuable, I think.

I've used guys (at home) like the lefty you describe with the .450 Rops, and I don' think the robot "realizes" the proclivity of the particular pitcher.
So...a switch hitter will still bat Right against such a lefty, and the robot will tend to bring in Right-handed pinch-hitters, just as though the lefty would be vulnerable to them.
The value is limited, because it can only be an advantage at home when you can put the guy in in appropriate situations. On the road, the robot still seems to me to follow the traditional platoon pattern.

Hope this is clear....would also be glad to hear various views.
