Lafayette - perennial bridesmade but still champs not chumps
In K15 Lafayette has finished 2nd in the Eatern region of the central circuit every year until the current one (mired in last place & rebuilding) while Califonia won the division each year. Two seasons Lafayette finished with 108 & 106 wins but was still edged out for the division lead by California. What a rivalry!
But...unlike the Buffalo Bills, the Lafayette franchise has been the world series champs 3 of the 8 seasons of the league while Califnia only has 2 world series wins. Lafayette is the defending world series champion.
Although Lafayette is down this season, they have done a great rebuilding job and will surely challenge again (and end up bridesmaids again? - G) next year if they draft well with their big stockpile of high picks.
I'm not sure why we play the regular season though as Ken does an amazing job each spring of predicting the final results. It's fun to try to outperform his predictions.
I've had a great time trying to turn a perennial cellar dweller into a team that could compete with these two tremendous franchises. This is a fun league if you enjoy a challenge and unamanaged Oakland would be a great franchise as they are loaded for 2005.
