It's Elimentary my dear Mr. Watson

If your player shows that he has 30 games injured for the 2004 season and the injury was actually two separate injuries (two 15 game DL list in real life), PB indicates that he has two occurrences possible for injury.

Let's say for the sake of argument that he gets his first injury early in the season and it's for 10 days. You bring him back after ten and then in 30 games he gets another injury for 12 games. So, PB has forced you to sit him out for 22 games but his number of occurences is up - finished at least for any long term injury. What's not up is the total number of days he was actually injured (or on the DL) and he is responsible for 30-22 or 8 more games. These 8 games, if they are going to occur, will be day-to-day, i.e., one game at a time and in actual fact may not occur at all.

Bet that clears it up.
