Back To Board

Don't entirely agree

Fred,
I have never played in a league with you but I read the board pretty regularly and more often than not I agree with you views. My concern in the 98T-1 playoff this year is that it appears to be an unmanaged team defeating a NEGLECTED team. Practically speaking it makes no difference. I do not know the Little Rock owner, and I may be wrong, but it appears to me that he has demonstrated little interest in his team anyway. He left two excellent relievers (Harikkala and Ramirez) on the farm ALL season (they both show 0 usage). If he had actually used these players instead of the weaker players he had on his active roster he probably would have won at least one additional game and avoided the tie altogether. In addition it appears that he did not actively manage the one game playoff! How else could you explain removing your ace (even down several runs) in the fifth inning in favor of lesser graded relievers. Even a weak human manager would no you HAVE to win this one or wait until next season. Removing Perez with seven more batters available in favor of the weaker Eldred and then Yan is the sort of move only the ROBOT would make. If a manager does not play his best players or does not play a HOME one game playoff then I will shed no tears for his being eliminited by an unmanaged team. In fact I will take this argument one step further. It is BETTER that the unmanaged team won. At least the next opponent and the commish both know the team is unmanaged and can plan accordingly. Otherwise we would most likely have to wait until AFTER the deadlines for the commish to adjust the neglected team's roster. We would again have to wait until after the deadline for the robot to play the neglected team's home games. I am curious to see your relpy.
