What universe do you guys live in?
The manual clearly states that the managed team always gets home field if the other team is unmanaged.
I quote the manual:
The game will be played in the park of the team, which wins the following tiebreakers:
1. Managed team always gets home game if other team is vacant (unmanaged).
2. More wins on the road.
3. Greater runs scored differential
4. Commissioner's coin flip
If the game you cite didn't seem to follow those rules, then perhaps it is because the "managed team" isn't really managed but just hasn't been changed to unmanaged on the page.
Or perhaps there was a mistake made.
But the manual is very clear on this.
